I am so pissed!

Okay so I may have talked about my princess a little bit, but this time I am going to go in depth about her.
So currently she is 3 years old. She will be 4 in July. She, at this point, is not using complete sentences. At first, I thought she’s just taking her time she will talk soon. There was a woman that came to test her for anything else. She basically told us that speech was her only problem. She was almost two then.
Fast forward to the present, she is currently signed up for a language center and attends two times a week. She is improving little by little, but not enough to tell a difference.
Her daycare that she attends is great, I love it. She has had good teachers and not so good teachers. As for her teachers, there is a few that I didn’t like one bit. Currently her teacher is studying early childhood education, and everyday she has a diagnosis for my princess.
I mean one day she can say she has ADD or ADHD, ODD and even Autism. I believe all of the conditions are very serious and should not be thrown around like a common cold.
Yesterday she was upset to go to school, and I just kept thinking about how her teachers keep thinking there is something really “wrong” with her. I know my child is not perfect and each child develops at their own rate. I think if she did have any of these her teacher at the Language Center would have said something to me about it.
Also, my Aunt who is always butting in everyone’s business made me very upset and she thinks she is helping, but I keep telling her to butt out. She didn’t listen to me, so I no longer speak to her. It’s a done deal.
When she wasn’t talking by two everyone would ask me about her hearing. I didn’t get it checked at first, but everyone continued to ask me, so I got it checked.
And guess what, she can HEAR!
My brother’s girlfriend sent me an email. I don’t know why she sent me an email when we live in the same city, she could have just called me on the phone. In her email she writes do a search on Google for red flags for this or that. WHAT?????
Even her Dad who has absolutely no sense, will call me out of the blue, and ask is she in speech therapy? What? This is not how you start off a conversation.
I am a single parent, and I do not cry Woe is me, but if you can’t help the situation, just shut up!
I think I am trying to the best I can for my child, and everyone keeps making me feel like I am not doing enough.

I'm a child and family therapist with a Masters degree in child development. A preschool teacher who is currently studying Early Childhood Education has absolutely no qualifications to be diagnosing your child and it is unprofessional for her to tell you that she has a new dx every day. If she is VERY experienced, she may recognize some signs, but the fact that she is currently in school makes me think that this is not the case.

There are a series of criteria that have to be met to give a dx like this. I don't know a 3.5 year old who doesn't show "some" symptoms at some point. Does this teacher give you examples of behavior? Do you see them at home? If you are concerned, I would talk to your pediatrician and talk to the language center. Perhaps another Early Intervention assessment is in order and would calm your fears.

It sounds like you are doing everything that you can to help with her language delay. I wouldn't hesitate to nicely tell people that you are getting your daughter all of the help that is available and unless they have some specific suggestion to help, their two cents isn't helpful.

Good luck to you. I'm ticked with you.
